Job Description

Quitman Public School is accepting applications for an Agriculture Teacher & FFA Director for our successful and state renowned program. An Agriculture Teacher/FFA Director in the Quitman District must perform many duties to facilitate a successful program including but not limited to the following:
Positively promote and model passion for the agriculture and FFA program to attract and engage students;
Build positive relationships with students to grow the FFA program;
Maintain and improve the quality of the agriculture education program to ensure success for all students;
Contribute to the educational objectives of the public school system by creating engaging lessons that point to agriculture career pathways as a guide to achieving necessary skills for continued education and employment;
Provide students with educational and equitable experiences leading to career preparation, continued education, and employment;
Enhance youth leadership and FFA as an integral part of instruction;
Provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to compete in a global economy;
Engage parents and community members in the agriculture and FFA programs;
Work closely to involve and support the local 4H group;
Inform students about agriculture and agricultural literacy;
Support students inside and outside of the classroom as they prepare for careers in agriculture.
Supervise students at all off-campus activities such as conventions, contests, workshops, field trips, etc., associated with the agriculture program and the FFA;
Properly care for and maintain all facilities and equipment to ensure safety, accountability, cleanliness and organization;
Maintain professional and personal ethics when working with students, parents, community leaders, etc.;

FFA/Leadership Development:
The FFA is an integral part of the instructional program. All facets of the agricultural program are expected to have an active FFA chapter. It is the duty of the teacher to serve as advisor for the local chapter. It is necessary that the teacher spend time in planning and conducting leadership, citizenship, and cooperative activities for students at the district, area, state, and national levels.
