QUALIFICATIONS:Master’s Degree in the field of Education. Eligibility to hold a valid Instructional certificate as issued by the Department of Education for the state of Arkansas. Additional administrative experience preferred. Any alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find acceptable and reasonable.
JOB GOALS:To plan for and administer the school in compliance with instructions of the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Board of Education, pertinent laws, state and federalregulations and Board of Education policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The performance responsibilities of this position may include but not be limited to the following: •Come to work each day adequately prepared, both physically and mentally, to perform the following duties •In conjunction with the Administrators and staff, ensure that the District’s philosophy of education; educational goals and policies are achieved •Ensure that State and Federal mandates are followed (i.e. affirmative action, special education) •Collaborates with the Administration, staff, students and community to develop an efficient,effective and current curriculum that is aligned with state and federal standards and Board policies •Work with Administration, staff, students and community to acquire needed instructional supplies and equipment •Ensure that all Board approved programs and curriculum are delivered •Establish a consistent classroom; instructional schedule and maintain an orderly learning environment •Serve as the instructional leader with a focus on providing educational programs that comply with state, federal, district, student, staff and community needs •Ensure that the registration procedures, attendance laws and child accounting regulations for all eligible school aged children residing in the District and all non-resident children desiring to attend the District, shall be followed •Monitor the curricular program to ensure that it meets all mandates •Maintain a curricular program and standards that are designed to meet graduation requirements •Develop and implement an emergency plan that provides for the medical well being and safety of the students •In conjunction with the Board, Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent and staff develop and implement a disciplinary policy that meets the requirements of all applicable laws and mandates while preserving the instructional integrity and safety of the building •Supervise district and building programs with regard to student eligibility and participation and staff performance •Plan/coordinate student recognition activities •Schedule all mandated testing as required •Evaluate test data and coordinate an action plan to improve student performance as required •Establish high expectations and standard for behavior and performance •Collaborate with the Superintendent to develop and implement systems for the recruitment,employment, assignment and transfer, evaluation, in-service and development and compensation and benefits for professional staff •Works with Superintendent and administration to ensure that programs and procedures are implemented and maintained that protect the employees’ due process rights, medical well being and safety •Supervise employees to enhance the performance of their duties •Evaluate professional employees and support staff in a constructive manner •Develop procedures to communicate information to employees•Monitor the efforts of staff in implementing curriculum, assure the approved curriculum is being taught •Develops, implements and maintains all employee schedules in accordance with applicable contracts •In conjunction with administration, develop, implement and maintain budget •Communicate effectively with the staff, public and parents •Maintain a positive school climate •Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent
Evaluation Criteria - Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board of Education policy on evaluation of Certified Personnel.
