POSITION TITLE: Superintendent of Schools
FLSA: Exempt Professional
REPORTS TO: Atkins Board of Education
Appropriate state licensure
A minimum of four years teaching experience
A minimum of one year principal experience
District office experience preferred
Superintendent certification required
MAJOR POLICY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employment and leadership of administrators, teachers, and classified employees.
Provide leadership and direction for the fiscal management of the district.
Oversee the physical operations of the district
Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Board of Education.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct recruitment activities for classified and certified staff.
Maintain district personnel files for all employees.
Maintain and submits appropriate records and reports to federal and state agencies.
Supervise employee Health and Wellness program for district employees.
Monitor class size status and recommends solutions to administrative team.
Participate with district strategic planning processes.
Ensure training and compliance of federal, state, and local laws and policies related to OCR, Wage and Hour, FLSA, etc.
Interpret existing personnel policies and contractual agreements.
Screen and process employment applications of candidates.
Oversee the support system for the educational facilities that promotes a positive learning environment.
Maintain communication with educational leaders at the local, state and national level in order to stay current on fiscal and instructional issues.
Serve on appropriate committees.
