Job Description

POSITION TITLE:                Grades K-4 Alternative Learning Classroom Paraprofessional

FSLA:                                   Non-exempt

REPORTS TO:                       Student Services Director/Principal

QUALIFICATIONS:                           

  • High school diploma
  • At least one (1) of the following:
    • Two (2) years of college credit
    • An Associate’s Degree or higher
    • Evidence of passing the Arkansas State Board of Education adopted Praxis Paraprofessional Assessment
  • Desire to support students’ social/emotional health and academic success at school

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:     185-day contract with benefits according to Siloam Springs

                                             School District Board Policies

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  Work under the direction of the alternative learning

                                                classroom teacher to provide the following:

  • Behavioral support for students who may be aggressive or disruptive
  • Academic support for achieving grade-level curricular standards
  • Assistance to support students’ transitions into and out of the alternative learning classroom
  • Collaborative responsibility with alternative and general education staff for student success

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:             

  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Present and communicate in a professional manner
  • Other duties as assigned by administration and alternative learning classroom teacher
