Perform duties under the guidelines of the Nurse Practice Act and follows federal HIPPA laws. Demonstrates flexibility in scheduling and willing to help other nurses as needed. Maintains neat appearance and follows school dress code. Counsel with school personnel concerning health education and materials. Develop a program of health education through individual consultation and/or classroom instruction. Assist school personnel in understanding the health needs of students. Encourage periodic health and dental screening for all students. Assist in prevention and control of communicable diseases, including immunization projects, audits, and surveys in accordance with state laws and regulations regarding immunizations. Enter all immunizations in APSCN. Provides specific treatment for students as ordered by their Doctor and as written in their IHP. Maintains adequate health records and documents appropriate information on student health cards. Maintain health room log. Confer with parents, and/or guardians, and community agencies concerning the health of student. Compile and maintain an inventory of community health resources and refer pupils to appropriate agency or practitioner. Strive to maintain good relations between community and school. Assist in providing emergency care for accidents and sudden illness. Document suspected child abuse. Serve as a member of multi-disciplinary team. Serve as a member of the Health and Safety committee in the building or buildings in which you are assigned.
