JOB GOAL:


 


The job of Emergency Management Coordinator was established for the purpose of overseeing all aspects of emergency preparedness and Disaster Preparedness. This position will serve as the Emergency Management Manager for the district.


 


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:


 


Schedule 702 - Grade 03 - $38,654 – $67,161 12-month (245 days) contract, plus Benefits Package NOTE:  Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based on education and experience.   FLSA: Non-Exempt

Reports directly to the Director of Safety and Security


 


QUALIFICATIONS:


 


  1. BS degree in emergency management, disaster preparedness, or equivalent required.
  2. Completion of an accredited State, Federal, or International Emergency Management Certificate Program or Professional Development Series (FEMA), or equivalent is desired;
  3. Experience with creating and/or re-designing emergency and disaster preparedness plans.
  4. Evidence of strong organizational skills.
  5. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  6. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. This position will serve as the Emergency Management Manager for the district
  2. Assist with the internal emergency response, planning, and preparation
  3. Assists in the development, review, and improvement of LRSD’s individual school emergency plans based on applicable laws, disaster research, and industry best practices.
  4. Conducts site visits to perform campus safety audits at each campus.
  5. Assists in developing and overseeing the LRSD’s drill and exercise programs.
  6. Assists with coordinating the efforts of the school safety and security committee.
  7. Serves as district emergency management liaison.
  8. Collect, organize, and develop data for after-action analyses.
  9. Provides consultation and technical assistance to emergency managers, first responders, parents, volunteer agencies, and all others involved in community-wide emergency management efforts.
  10. Coordinates the development of LRSD's district-wide emergency operations plan.
  11. Coordinates the development of LRSD’s business continuity plan.
  12. Helps coordinate activities of District-Wide Safety and Security Committee.
  13. Present programs to various groups, both internal and external, regarding emergency preparation, required drills, best practices, and emergency preparedness
  14. Oversee the Panic button system and other emergency operations systems.
  15. Assists the LRSD nursing department with the development and implementation of health-related plans
  16. Performs all other duties as assigned.

  


Mental Functions, Physical Requirements, and Working Conditions:


  


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, go up and downstairs, operate foot and hand controls, use a telephone, and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. In addition, this position requires accurately perceiving sound, near and far vision, depth perception, handling and working with educational materials and objects, and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time and be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year. Additional technical skills, knowledge, and abilities may be recommended by the immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
