BEEBE SCHOOL DISTRICT MENTAL HEALTH COORDINATOR JOB DESCRIPTION
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
243 day contract (12 month)
Salary to be determined
10 days vacation per year of employment cumulative to 20 day
12 days sick leave per year of employment cumulative to 125 days
2 days personal leave per year of employment cumulative to 5 days
PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Required):
Possession of valid Arkansas license by the appropriate credentialing agency.
Possession of a Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or psychology.
Experience working with students recommended for or receiving special education services with mental health needs in a school setting.
Experience developing and delivering professional development.
Must be able to clear Arkansas State Police, FBI, and DHS background checks.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to):
Provide mental health related support services to district students as needed.
Provide consultation and advice concerning student status, diagnosis, and treatment as it relates to mental health services.
Collaborates with public and private agencies to coordinate mental health services for the school district.
Establishes and oversees service contracts for mental health providers.
Supervises all in-district activities of the mental health staff (district/provider).
Acts as a resource to Local Education Agency (LEA) staff members regarding mental health services and the transition process for students placed in residential facilities.
Reviews referrals of students who need intensive mental health services to ensure that Least Restrictive Education options have been considered and appropriate criteria have been met.
Participates in student IEP meetings as needed or appropriate.
Provides case management services for IEP-driven placements.
Maintains and facilitates communication with and between families and mental health staff.
Assists with transition plans for students returning for residential placement.
Collects data and prepares a variety of reports, including detailed case histories, assessment and intervention records.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES (cont):
Assesses training and professional development needs of the District Leadership Team. Designs, coordinates and delivers professional development as needed related to mental health issues and services.
Coordinates district Suicide Prevention efforts.
Designs, coordinates and delivers trainings related to mental health services to parents of students recommended for or receiving educationally based mental health services.
Coordinate behavioral support in builidngs including a process for referral and assistance in developing behavior response teams.
Other duties as assigned or appropriate.
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS and/or REQUIREMENTS:
Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time, walk, occasionally stoop, lift objects that fall within the scope of job responsibility. Must be able to see up close and at a distance. Must have the dexterity to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job.
Intelligence: Requires the ability to read and follow a variety of instructions on district, state, and federal websites as well as hard copy.
Language Ability: Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondences. Requires the ability to prepare reports, etc. using prescribed formats and conforming to all rules of grammar.
Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to give oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively. Must possess the ability to speak to people with poise, voice control, and confidence. Must be able to deliver effective presentations to both small and large audiences.
